Ah the revolution of scholars - they spike their hair, wear shades and listen to ipods. If scholars version 2005 are that cool, I think I'm a old fashioned bookworm scholar geek...  Posted by Hello

East Coast Road - Jalan Pantai Timur. Ha the beloved street I pass everyday on my way to school (that is if I take bus 12). Quite a happening street... Reminds me of penang cause of its shoplots architecture. Have many cool hangout places and restaurants like Cafe Cartel (TGIF like that), Gelare, Starbucks and not forgetting the famous Katong Laksa which originated from this street! Besides this is the street with the most 7-11s I have ever seen! Posted by Hello

The Underdawg Get Nowhere

All For Her Haih Posted by Hello

Holidays are pretty boring; I end up watching (and hooked on) shows like

Eye for a Guy 2

But which testosterone-filled guy can resist the temptation of watching Dennis Keller flaunting her superbly beautiful body every Wednesday on Channel 5?

Well I only watched the show thrice: the premiere, and the last two episodes.

What is she suppose to do in the reality show? Well to make it short and simple, eliminate a guy every week and end up with the man of her choice to follow her to Europe for a romantic trip. Hopefully things can continue developing after the show.

Of course (in my world of fantasy and denialism), I am the rightful winner to follow her to Europe. But I was rather disappointed when Denise Keller joined the show. Why are you undermining yourself? You are a beautiful (sexy is the better word), charming and smart lady who can earn enough by just being a model and a MTV VJ! Aren’t there any other shows that you can be host rather than THIS? Well she did admit that she took this show as a ‘whatever’ thing but you know how things go when you play around with feelings and get personal with the competitors…

And the fact that she chose Wolfgang, an ang moh over Howard, a Chinese American! I personally don’t think she is an SPG, but did you wake up on the wrong side of bed or something? In the second last episode, Denise went out for a date with Howard and Wolfgang on two whole separate days. From what I see Denise seemed to enjoy her date with Howard more than Wolfgang (the first kiss from Howard was hilarious too compared to Wolfgang - a cringe-worthy shy kiss with a nose bump, and that hot kiss escalating to closed eyes and tongue action… this discussion is getting a bit gayish for me so I will end here).

I think the pictures are copyright... please don't sue me Mediacorp! Posted by Hello

Howard got the best first impression by Denise in the premiere. He made her laugh (and apparently she likes people who make her laugh).

WELL WHAT ELSE IS THERE? WHY NOT HOWARD?

Ok, let’s do some cost benefit analysis shall we

Wolfgang
German – most probably has that European mystic going on
Took her golfing during her last date – some sign of class and sophistication
Perfect GP answers – seem to have idealistic answers when Denise questions (which I think is what a woman wants to hear… an affirmative man!)
Good kisser – again this is making me feel gay…
Hmm what else? Oh yeah Ang Moh…

Howard
American Chinese – well a bit of ang moh for you
Took her to Genting Highland during her last date – he chooses fun over class
Subtle when answering – maybe that’s a turn off, but he cracks funny jokes!
Not so good kisser – eh come on give him a break, an underdog attempting to kiss a hot girl! That’s a rare occasion… FOR A CHINESE!!

Ok so it seems like the CBA is in favour for Wolfgang… BUT

Actually you know why I am so pissed? Cause I think I am a Howard. I rather be jovial, funny and entertaining my date than bringing her to some classy restaurant and buying her expensive stuffs on our first date (sorry Jo honey if that’s what you want!). When I see Howard and Denise talking and laughing together… I see myself…

I give err and erms when people ask me questions and I love cracking jokes and be laughed at for the jokes I cracked once in awhile. Not forgetting that I’m not a good kisser (as far as I think…)!

So why did she choose Wolfgang? Well I suppose materialism comes first after the intangibles.

It could be that I see myself as an underdog as well. In class or among my friends, I think I voice out the least, or even talk for that matter. When I got elected as Leo President back in secondary school, I thought that it was just pure luck and the club wouldn’t be as happening as it will be cause an underdog like me was administering it (though honestly the club was almost going down the drain already). But according to my Big Five Profile, I’m a mixture of following and leading. But that sounds crude to me cause I always find myself following other people without thinking by myself. In fact, there are times when I thought already, but just shut my mouth. Perhaps it is peer pressure pulling me with them, or the fact that no one listens to me…

So when I see an underdog achieving in life (ok getting into the finals for Eye for a Guy is not that ‘life’ but you know what I mean), it breaks my heart to see him failing to get the girl. I’m lucky enough to have a girl! Maybe she is just too good for him, too high class for him… but hey we’re just people you know.
Well there you have it, another disappointing reality show by Singapore. Congratulations you have made me feel even more depressed when entertainment is the source of satisfaction and enlightenment.

And once again...

SPORTS (can't do any)

Sorry to keep you guys dry… been pretty busy lately… well actually the whole term :P

Let’s see, many things happened for the past 10 weeks, but since I can’t remember the chronology, I’ll just crap about what I did for the past 10 weeks!

This term was the sports season (“sports is an integral part of college life” -TJC 2004 Yearbook) and surprisingly my college managed to be in most of the semis and finals!

Let’s see if I can remember…
Table tennis – top 5
Cricket – top 5
Tennis – Sorry Shanta better luck in uni tennis!
Squash – eh the team exist?
Hockey – somewhere in the top 16 (there are only 16 JCs in Singapore… and counting)
Rugby – no idea
Swimming, Sailing, Track and Field, Rock Climbing – ongoing or not yet start…

Can’t remember the other teams…

Anyway then there’s our college’s pride and joy (not that the others aren’t… don’t misunderstand!) – our basketball boys, badminton chicks and not-so-leng-chai guys and the ever-ah-beng volleyball boys! All three made it to the finals!

Hooray! Three cheers three cheers for TJ!

The college decided to chauffeur us to the stadium to watch the finals. The volleyball final was the first. Initially, the college only selected a few classes to attend. It was against Nanyang JC

The turn out for our college was horrible (comparing to Nanyang JC). The previously volleyball girls final involving Nanyang JC and Jurong JC also consist of many enthusiastic Jurong Birdies (not that their mascot is a bird but since the bird park is at Jurong… JJ people don’t angry hor!)

Unfortunately, we lost to Nanyang JC… but honestly… kena trashed kau kau! Lost three sets in A ROW! But it was a good game… saw some good defending!

Look at the number of supporters going to Toa Payoh stadium? SO LITTLE!! Oh that's Grace with the blue bag Hi Grace!# Posted by Hello

Horrible, just horrible... across was the Nanyang Lions (because their flag had a lion in it) That's one of our Student councilors waving our flag... Posted by Hello

Alot of good defending and smashing (don't know the volleyball jargants but hope these are the terms...) however still kena trashed by NYJC! Eeee, can't believe our team's jersey had our college's name printed in chinese... can't be that ah beng right the team? Posted by Hello

The Jurong birdies were damn enthusiastic! They seemed to have memorised all the JCs’ cheers! After the match was over, the prize giving ceremony commenced. So other JCs who won the top 4 positions came in to collect their prizes. And when the name of the JC was called, they just went hysteria and started shouting their cheers! Thanks for acknowledging us too birdies!

Learning from the mistake (and most probably embarrassment from the volleyball match) the principal decided to make it mandatory for us to support the basketball and badminton finals.

Didn’t attend the basketball match though, was sick. But it was against Hwa Chung Institution (hear the name also think aiya sound so cina sure good in basketball la)

We were damn desperate to win this game… it has been 20 YEARS clinched first… and 11 YEARS since we entered the finals… if you are not desperate at all, you gotta be kidding me!

So the principal was all ‘we must win this game and all’ while the student councillors were propagating ‘oh we must go support our college!’ with the a-bit-last-minute-small-and-lowya-posters.

Wow... if you look closely the spectators were wearing those 1980s big glasses.... and that was so long ago! And that is how desperate my college wanted the basketball title! Posted by Hello

As we kena trashed by NYJC in volleyball, the principal managed to get the student council to make the basketball and the badminton one big hit! Posted by Hello

HCI was good all right. In the beginning, it looked like we were losing badly. But at the very last few minutes, all of sudden our boys just kept on scoring and scoring! We surpassed HCI only at the last few minutes! That was incredible! We won!

After the game, the principal went on about how you can achieve something if you put your heart to it…

Shanta went:
Yeah right, I wanted tennis to get into (semis/finals/next round) but didn’t get in what put your heart to it…

Since I missed out on the basketball match, I just had to attend the badminton finals! This match was against Raffles JC. When we arrived, it was the opposite of the volleyball match! Our supporters outnumbered the Rafflesians (does this word look like the Rafflesia flower?). Yeah! And in the beginning, it was apparent that the girls were kicking the Raffles Rafflesia (very lame but don’t know what else to describe) butts! The guys… haih anticipated the lost la… Then our very own Malaysian state player scholar power Mei Lian trashed the flowers kau kau! She didn’t even give her opponent a chance to service over!

Unfortunately our doubles sucked… badly… so we both guys and chicks tied with them. We brought out the our best… Singapore bred national player (half Malaysian too :P) Tan Li Si! But unfortunately she lost to the flowers… it’s ok Li Si you played your best! Saw super duper good strokes from ya!

So in the end, both guys and chicks teams settled for 2nd position…

But overall, it all three events were good!
